Recovery Run Club

RECOVERY RUN CLUB

The first-ever community running app that tracks recovery in miles, not just days

For almost 100 years, sobriety has been measured one way: in days. (Day 1. Day 30. Day 365. You know the drill.) And look. That method works for a lot of people. The counting matters. The milestones matter. But when that's the ONLY way we measure success, there's not much room for being human. For mistakes. For the messy, nonlinear reality that recovery actually IS. Three out of five people return to use within the first year. So when we started working with CLEAN Cause and the CLEAN Cause Foundation, we asked: what if we thought about recovery differently? That's how Recovery Run Club happened.

CREATING our materials: Small team. Tiny budget. Maximum ingenuity.

With pure scrappiness and zero excess, we set out to create the promotional materials for Recovery Run Club. We cast the actors ourselves on Backstage, shot everything ourselves with rented equipment, and skipped a dolly by pushing the camera in a wheelchair to get smooth motion. The entire shoot was run by a skeleton crew: me (jumping between directing, producing, and shooting), an art director, producer, our editor–DP, and the client.
